How to Use the Fence Calculator

What it accounts for

• Posts are the perimeter divided by the spacing, plus one.
• Rails are the number of spans multiplied by the rails per span.
• Concrete is a rough 0.03 m3 per post footing.

Getting a better number

Add extra posts for corners, ends and gates, and allow deeper footings where frost reaches. Panels rarely divide exactly, so keep a spare board or two.
